GateHub Update, Criminal Proceedings in France
Dear GateHub Customers,
As explained in our blog posts of 6 June 2019, 7 June 2019 and 19 July 2019, GateHub was the victim of a serious cyber attack in May/June 2019. This cyber attack resulted in the fraudulent misappropriation of cryptocurrency assets stored in a number of GateHub's customers' wallets.
As one of GateHub's valued customers, we would like to thank you for your patience. We understand that waiting for updates is not easy, and here at GateHub we share your frustration of not being able to deliver this update to you any earlier.
We have been working closely with law enforcement agencies in a number of jurisdictions since the cyber attack. We are glad that we are now finally in a position to confirm that criminal proceedings to investigate the cyber attack are currently ongoing in France before the Paris Judiciary Tribunal. The criminal proceedings aim to identify and to establish the liability of some of those believed to be responsible for the cyber attack.
If funds were taken from your wallet during the cyber attack, you can now request to join the criminal proceedings in France and have the opportunity to request compensation by way of civil damages (although please note that this is subject to the decision of the judge).
We already sent out an email to customers who might have had funds taken from their wallets in the cyber attack. If you have received an email from us, please read it carefully and act accordingly.
If you have not received an email from us but had funds taken from your account, please contact us at legal@gatehub.net.
If you have any further questions, please contact us at legal@gatehub.net.
We will continue working with law enforcement agencies, and will endeavour to keep you posted whenever we are at the position to communicate more information or if similar proceedings become available in the future as the investigation progresses.
Last but not least, we would like to thank the community for your continuing patience and support.
